have a new computer. I am way too excited about this. Now I can sit on the couch with a computer that actually starts up. It is titanium and glorious.

I was stuck in MA for the blizzard. There were more than two feet of snow at my parents' house. It was a little crazy, but I got to watch some football with the fam. I am now conflicted with who to root for, but I'm going with tradition and rooting for the Pats. That is not to say that I will be disappointed if the Eagles win. Either way I'm pretty happy about it.

My brain is fried. I will stop babbling now. My OC thoughts need to crystallize more before I offer my take on Thursday's episode.

more adventures in academia

I got into another conference! A fairly big one in NYC over Memorial Day Weekend. Woohoo!

What's really freaking me out is that by the time I present at ICA, I will be married. This shit is totally real.

oh, great...

Right as I'm about to head up to Boston, this crap starts up again. I love these blown-out-of-proportion alert stories. Now we're searching for Chinese nationals. I guess everyone wants to blow us up these days. I wonder if these people are in cahoots with the company that makes my bridesmaid dresses, therefore luring me to Massachusetts to finally pick a color. Yes, this sounds like paranoid raving, but the semester has started and I am already insane.

Oh, and I'm now obsessed with Project Runway on Bravo. I love Jay and Austin, they're both so flaming and fabulous. I hate Wendy, and Liz and I can't stop referring to Robert as "Bob Plotkin," which totally makes him sound like he's your dad's accountant. Because what I need right now is another TV show to obsess over...

40 miles from atlanta, this is nowhere...

...I'm going (back) to Georgia. For a conference. The conference is on a Friday and Saturday and then I'll hit Athens Saturday evening to see people that I haven't seen in a longass time. I have a feeling it's going to be weird. I really hope there's a good show at the 40 Watt or the 'Donia.

from the random file...

How much do I love Darth Tater? I want one so badly. (This coming from a girl who has a Darth Vader Christmas ornament that says "The Force is strong in you, young Skywalker, but you are not a Jedi yet" every time the tree is lit.) Of course, I also have a Death Star ornament too. I'm all about the dark side of the Force...

i've hit the wall, i'm about to fall

Many of you know about love of the Buffalo Tom (shuddup, I grew up in Boston). I'm sad that I missed this year's Hot Stove/Cool Music benefit in Boston because it was a quasi-BT reunion. The show also featured Juliana Hatfield (an artist I'm incredibly conflicted about), the Dropkick Murphys (awesome, dumb fun) and a host of others. This recap on Bill Janovitz's message board gives the scoop and makes Lenny DiNardo my new favorite Red Sox, because he wanted to jam with Juliana on the Lemonheads' "Hannah and Gabi," which is my favorite Lemonheads song of all time. (Damn, all of It's a Shame About Ray is good. I love that record.)

I got back from my personal training session an hour ago. I am in agony.

sweet dreams

Alright, I know I consume way too much media, but I am truly disturbed that I had dreams last night about Starbucks' new Chantico chocolate drink. Perhaps I should go to the free sampling this afternoon at 4. I do love chocolate. However, I've just been reading so much about this drink that it crept into my dreams. That scares me for some reason.

"is this because i'm a lesbian?"

Mr. Pico Dulce says all I was going to say (and more) about last night's bizarre departure of Serena from Law & Order. It was just so stilted and random. And, since the passing of the late, great Jerry Orbach (well, actually before then), I've decided that I hate Dennis Farina's character. He's a tool, not nearly as cool as Lennie. The other thing that made me chuckle was that an actor with the same name as Sean played the rapper. It would've been funnier if the Sean I knew played 4Square or whatever the dude's name was. Granted, then the beef would've been about indie rock.

vent, vent, vent

Weddings, showers, everything....They can all go fuck themselves. I hate this shit. I give up. I'm sick of everyone being up my ass about everything.

In other news, 24's back...I missed the first two hours, so I'm a little bit confused. So far all I know is that people want things to blow up. Or someone's kidnapped. Or Jack Bauer's a rogue agent. Who knows?

Jerry Orbach dies, and this fucker lives. Nice try, mattress, nice try.

Q: Is it really pathetic that what I'm most looking forward to today is the new episode of Lost and the season premiere of Alias?

A: Yes.

In other news, Payola is dead. Long live payola. Having briefly worked in radio, I don't know what to think about this. But then again, after working in radio, I've learned to hate just about every aspect of the business. Bitter, me? Of course...

So, I turned 30 on New Year's Day. It was fairly uneventful on account of my stomach acting up and my intense desire to avoid the Mummer's at all costs. New Year's Eve was a low-key affair at a friend's house. Mike and I made fondue. I got a gym membership from my parents, so maybe I won't be a complete and utter cow in my wedding dress. Woohooo!

And, since I can't get enough of my self-absorption, check out My 30th Year, my obnoxious photoblog in which I attempt to have one picture from every day this year.

And, congrats to Kieran and Chris on their engagement! There's a whole new wave of weddings among my friends....
