Yes, I know everyone has seen this 8 million times, but the song has been running through my head for the past 4 days. My favorite parts: Maya Rudolph's heartfelt "Thank you" and the fact that JT belts it out with as much emotion as "Cry Me A River."

Everybody Loves Raymond is one of those shows that I find rather inconsequential, another one of many sitcoms that lingers on in syndication. But I've always loved Peter Boyle. He was fascinating as a character actor and as a person. I mean, he was one of John Lennon's best friends! That's so strange, yet for some reason, seems appropriate. So I was pretty bummed to read of his passing. I'm just imagining Lennon giving him shit for doing the remake of the Alka-Seltzer "I can't believe I ate the whole thing" commercial at the big Dakota in the Sky...

it's official!

I am merely (ha) one dissertation and defense away from becoming Dr. Heathalouise. I successfully defended my exams and proposal yesterday after a long, hard road of revisions and discussions about what exact theoretical framework I need to use. I'm feeling much better about school in general. I also got a conference acceptance yesterday. Hooray!

Of course, less than 24 hours after the defense, my nose has started running like mad. It's like my immune system said, "Oh yeah, Heather, good luck with having any fun. You're siiiiiiiick." Ugh.

Ah, it's that magical time of the year, when my cell phone begins to blow up with calls from parents desperate for a TMX Elmo, Nintendo Wii or a PS 3. You see, my cell number is just a digit off from Toys R Us. I've had people call asking about trampolines. And they leave messages.

Regular posting will resume in a few days, once I get out from under the mountain of school madness. I'm still in diss proposal limbo, hence no triumphant announcement of my ABDness...
