donna martin loses weight

So I'm home, watching the annual, "Hey, fattie! Lose a few!" episode of Oprah, when a Nutrisystem ad comes on with Tori Spelling. I was confused. If clavicle-wielders like Tori need to drop a few lbs., then maybe we all do.

say hey!

I've become obsessed with this BP ad: the whimsical indie-rock soundtrack, adorable animated characters and the cute viral website. What does freak me out, however, is the girl flying on the toilet. Yup, singing gas pumps and driving babies are totally OK, but an aerial "comfort station" is beyond the pale:

They have "outtakes" on YouTube as well.

I don't know if I should be relieved that the emergency responders in Boston don't know what Aqua Teen Hunger Force is or completely horrified. On one hand, it does show that most of the bomb squad is not staying up late, smoking weed and watching Adult Swim. On the other hand, do you really think this looks like an explosive device? To me, it looks like a Lite Brite pattern. Ugh. Apparently, there are 56 of these in Philly.

why does this bother me?

I just saw a Target commercial which uses the Beatles' "Hello Goodbye." Now, I'm usually of the "BFD that a song is in a commercial" ilk, but something about this specific ad just rubbed me the wrong way. Maybe it's the bad pun. Everytime "Goodbye" is sung (by a breathy, female voice), the term "Goodbuy" appears on the screen. It's just cheesy. I guess I just expect more from Tar-jhay.
