Notes on Overheard Covers

While in Champion Coffee over the weekend, I heard what was perhaps the most striking cover I could remember of a recent pop hit: Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies” re-imagined by a loose-sounding group whose take on the song fell somewhere stylistically between Carissa’s Wierd and Joanna Newsome, aesthetically speaking. I asked for the name of the artist doing the cover, but didn’t write it down; since then, I’ve been more than a little obsessed. And thus, a request: if the above sounds at all familiar to anyone reading this, please drop a line and let me know where a fella could hear said cover again. Thanks!
