Classes & Sentences

Earlier this month, I attended one of the New York-based Dzanc Day classes, headed by Dawn Raffel and Pamela Ryder. The class was very helpful, I’d say, for many reasons; the topics discussed here have helped me get past a section of a novella-in-progress that had been holding me up for the better part of six weeks.

All of which is prelude to say that this conversation between Michael Kimball and Dawn Raffel over at The Faster Times is quite good, touching on some of the themes of the collection Further Adventures in the Restless Universe, sentence structure, and the roots of fiction in one’s personal history. It’s also reminding me that I presently have Carrying the Body towards the top of my to-read pile, and I should perhaps take action to, you know, actually read it, and soon.
