Happy birthday! I wish more members of what I loosely call “our” cohort had maintained their personal blogs over the same time, but that’s asking a lot when everyone mostly went out and got jobs, well, blogging!

You’ve done a magnificent job here and it’s always the best and easiest place to catch up with everything else you’re working on.

I hadn’t known this was reissued by NYRB. How cool. I read Kpomassie’s book as part of the research for my undergrad thesis on Arctic exploration, and have an old copy of it around the house somewhere.

Just read “Winter Montage, Hoboken Station” and thoroughly enjoyed it. Loved the mood, the awkwardness of the meeting and the description of the Hoboken station that I recall so well. You’re the best, Toby.

ummmm, so I just stumbled across the Maxwells concert calendar. On December 28, 2011 their calendar reads: “My Favorite Citzen.” (note the spelling)

Does anyone here have any insight on this? Different band, or is it the band I know and love?
